Before it reaches your child

Every piece passes
The Bunnim Test.

We don't guess if a product is ready. We test it — obsessively, repeatedly, and always from a child's point of view. Scratchy seams, fading prints, shrinking fabric, unsafe dyes — none of it makes the cut.

How we test

From fabric roll to your front door —
every step is a test.

A Bunnim product doesn't ship because it looks good. It ships because it has survived every single checkpoint on this list.

01

Raw Fabric Audit

Every fabric roll is tested before it's cut. We check fiber composition, thread count, shrink percentage, and whether the feel matches our softness benchmark — what we call the "cloud standard."

Pass criteria: Must score ≥ 8/10 on softness, zero synthetic irritants
02

Dye Safety Test

All dyes are tested for AZO compounds, heavy metals, and formaldehyde — chemicals that can harm kids' skin. We use only OEKO-TEX certified dyes. No shortcuts.

Pass criteria: OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — Class I (for babies and toddlers)
03

Construction & Seam Test

Every seam is subjected to a pull test of minimum 4kg before failure. Stitching density, thread type, and edge finishing are all checked. Scratchy inner seams are an automatic rejection.

Pass criteria: 4.0kg seam strength minimum · zero exposed raw edges
04

The 200-Wash Challenge

We wash every approved design 200 times in standard home conditions — warm water, regular detergent. Prints must not crack, colors must not bleed, fabric must not pill or shrink beyond 3%.

Pass criteria: ≤3% shrink · zero print crack · zero color bleed after 200 washes
05

The Kid Panel

This is our most important test. Real children — ages 2 to 12 — wear the product for a full day. Parents observe. Kids report (in their own way). If a child pulls at a collar, fidgets with a hem, or refuses to wear it again — it fails.

Pass criteria: Zero fidget complaints · worn willingly for full day · parent-approved comfort
06

Pre-Shipment Final Check

Before any product ships, a final batch inspection checks sizing accuracy, label correctness, packaging safety (no small parts, no sharp edges), and a visual quality check on print alignment.

Pass criteria: 100% of batch inspected · zero sharp packaging components
Our test categories

We test for everything
kids actually do.

Kids aren't gentle with their clothes. They run, roll, spill, stretch, sweat, and repeat. Our tests simulate all of it.

Colour Fastness

Does the colour stay true after sun exposure, washing, and sweat? We test all three. Separately.

Static & Friction

Does the fabric build static charge? Does it pill after friction? Kids in car seats and on carpet floors find out fast.

Temperature Behaviour

How does the fabric behave in Indian summers (45°C) and AC rooms? Does it breathe, or trap heat?

Stretch & Recovery

Elastic waistbands, cuffs, and necklines are stretched 500 times. They must return to original shape every single time.

Allergen & Irritant Screen

Nickel in buttons, latex in elastic, formaldehyde in finishes — all screened. Especially critical for kids with sensitive skin.

Visual Accuracy Check

Prints must be centred, colours must match the original design, logos must be straight. Kids notice. Parents notice more.

Our toughest critics

The only testers who matter —
the kids.

Our internal test labs are thorough. But no machine tells us what a 4-year-old feels when she pulls on a new tee. That's why we have the Kid Panel — real children who wear, stress, and (occasionally) destroy our products before you ever see them.

V

Vedika, 4

Jaipur

Panel Tester since 2023

"She rejected a batch of leggings because the waistband was "too squeezy." We fixed the elastic. She approved the next version."

K

Kabir, 7

Lucknow

Panel Tester since 2022

"Kabir runs everywhere. If a seam doesn't survive him at the park for 3 hours, it doesn't survive our test either."

M

Mira, 2

Patna

Panel Tester since 2024

"Mira tests our softest fabrics. If she tugs at her collar more than twice in an hour, the fabric goes back to the drawing board."

Recognised standards we meet

Independent certifications.
Not just our word.

We don't expect you to take our word for it. These are internationally recognised standards that every Bunnim fabric must meet before it reaches production.

All fabrics certified

OEKO-TEX Standard 100

Every fabric is tested for 100+ harmful substances including pesticides, heavy metals, and allergenic dyes. Class I — the strictest level, for products worn directly against skin.

Zero AZO compounds

AZO-Free Dyes

AZO dyes can break down into carcinogenic compounds. We use only AZO-free dye systems across all prints and solid colours.

Dermatologically tested

Skin-Safe Finishing

Fabric finishing agents (softeners, anti-wrinkle treatments) are tested to ensure they don't cause contact dermatitis in children with sensitive skin.

ISO 6330 compliant

Dimensional Stability

ISO 6330 wash testing ensures fabric dimensions stay within tolerance after repeated laundering — so a size 5 stays a size 5.

When we say no

14 products rejected last season.
Here's why we're proud of that.

Rejection isn't failure. It's the system working. Here are the real reasons products have been turned back:

Print cracking at 80 washes

Fell below our 200-cycle standard. Sent back to vendor for reformulation.

Fabric heat retention

Trapped too much heat in wear tests above 38°C. Not acceptable for Indian summers.

Seam separation under 3kg

Below our 4kg minimum. Structural failure risk for active kids.

Dye migration on sweat contact

Colour transferred to skin during sweat simulation. Immediate rejection.

Excessive static buildup

Caused visible static clinging in AC environments. Uncomfortable for toddlers.

Trace nickel in snap buttons

Nickel is a common allergen. Zero tolerance — batch recalled before shipment.

What parents say about Bunnim quality

They feel the difference.

"I've bought from a dozen kids' brands. Bunnim is the only one where the print hasn't cracked after 6 months of washing. I noticed because nothing else lasts like this."

Neha R.

Mumbai

"My daughter has extremely sensitive skin. With Bunnim she's never had a single rash. I read about their OEKO-TEX certification and that's what convinced me to try them."

Sunita P.

Hyderabad

"Kabir is brutal with his clothes. Grass stains, mud, climbing trees. Bunnim pieces look better after a season than most brands look after a month."
